Upton Talks Immigration Reform
HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) - The call to strip citizenship for those born in the US to undocumented parents has raised the hue and cry of those on both sides of the political aisle.
During the recording of an appearance on the "Axios on HBO" program, President Trump said that he believes he has the legal footing to issue such an executive order that apparently runs contrary to the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. While reaction to those remarks has been, for the most part, in opposition to Mr. Trump, Congressman Fred Upton believes that this debate overshadows the bigger problem of immigration reform.
"The current immigration system is broken," the St. Joseph Republican said during his weekly appearance on "WHTC Morning News" today. "It's broken for everybody, and the longer we don't fix the problem, it only perpetuates itself."
